Summery outfit for Blythe

Summery outfit for Blythe

I don’t know how long ago, however, ever since I had seen her, I have been thinking having one for these years. But not being a reasonable priced doll, I thought that Blythe and my daughter might not become good friends, especially when she was small. Having said this, my daughter and I is not a kind of person who love any fashion dolls. I hadn’t got any when I was a child. Neither she does. Both love soft toys and Waldorf style dolls but not Barbie, Bratz, even more innocent looking Japanese Licca chan. When we went to meet my mother in Tokyo at Christmas time, she said she want to buy one of those dolls for Little Miss Chatt, as she doesn’t seems to have any. She belongs to the generation who think that girls should play with dolls. So we took Little Miss Chatty to *that * famous big toy store T in downtown Tokyo. Unfortunately for my mother, Little Miss didn't even care about the dolls but board games, or little gadget toys the kind Japanese toy manufactures are good at making. To make my mother’s wish come true, and so do mine (*grin*), I took her to the aisle where Blythe is. Looking at Blythe dolls in the boxes with very hollow gaze, she said “They look scary.” So we gave up and bought her toy stethoscope, as she was interested in anything related to human body at that time and even now.

After we came back to England, and when I was reading some blogs I love, one of the blogger was showing off (to my eyes ;)) her brand new Blythe doll with her hand made pretty dress. Then Little Miss Chatty came to see me and looked into my computer monitor, and then she said, “Oh, she is pretty, isn’t she? Is she Blythe doll?” I thought she didn’t like Blythe doll at all, so I asked “Are you all right with this Blythe? You said she looks scary in Tokyo.” Then she said, “This one is pretty. I want this one!”

It’s impossible to get the exactly the same one but we made promise to visit the specialty shop in Daikanyama, when we go back to Tokyo next time.

We went to Tokyo this spring. This is the one she chooses and brought back to England. She gave her a name Annie.

As this girl only wore leotard and mesh skirt, I have been thinking making some outfit, but it couldn’t think I can machine saw the dress this small size, so it took a little while to get around to it. But finally, I knitted her linen hat and hand sawed cotton dress.

They look nice?

I found several site where we can download dress patterns. I really enjoyed making these, so shall I work on more outfit?
